High, Wide and Handsome + Cute

The Trishas for those who don't know are four talented chics out of Austin, TX, none of which are actually named Trisha.
A rootsy/western vibe with a sweet modern style is about the best way I can describe their sound.  High, Wide and Handsome is their first full length LP that release last week on August 7th.
You can catch the ladies at Live Oak Music Hall in Fort Worth tonight starting at 8pm!

Little Spark, Big Fire!

28 year old Jessie Baylin is an indie/folk/jazz kinda girl originally from Gillette, New Jersey who now calls Nashville home.
Jessie's debut album "You" was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Jessie Harris (Norah Jones, Melody Gardot) with much success. The follow up album, "Firesight", was her first major label release after signing with Verve Forcast in June of 2008.
Four years later Jessie has since cut ties with Verve and developed her own true independent space for her music in the form of Blonde Rat Records - affectionately borrowed from her grandmother's nickname.
Little Spark is the first release off Blonde Rat and most current for 2012.
Producer Kevin Augunas helped Jessie assemble a group of musicians that custom fit the throwback/mod. style for the record. Bringing in old-school style players like Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Jim Keltner on seasoned drums, Greg Leisz covering pedal steel and The Watson Twins on background vox.
Jimmie Haskell also handled string arrangements for the album which isn't a bad choice considering his past Emmy/Grammy awards working with acts like Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel and Bobby Gentry.
A couple weeks ago Jessie played Communion Nashville's August show at The Basement with Big Surr, Foreign Fields, Jill Andrews and Gold Motel.
Hope to get a chance to catch her in Nashville again soon, maybe at a "secret pop-up show" around town over the next couple of months? That would be cool and we'll share more about all that talk soon!
So far we like what we hear and look forward to more! On a personal life note, we have to mention that Jessie is married to KOL drummer Nathan Followill which I'm sure makes for a musical household.
Check out the trailer video we found hanging out on youtube for Jessie's album Little Spark for a great inside look at the making of...

FW@D Weekend Project NĂºmero 7

How many people do you know that will have nothing to do with country music?  Maybe that leans toward your musical taste as well?
Regardless if you like it, tolerate it or straight up hate it I'm willing to bet most music fans in general could dig some Junior Brown.
The type of country soul meets rock n' roll attitude and playing style isn't exactly your everyday variety sound you would get from a country house band around town.
Custom made double neck telecaster/steel franken-guitar screaming out rock licks along side country string bends is something of an audio spectacle to say the least!
JR. puts on a visual show worth the ticket prices too showcasing his technical abilities while donning a full custom suit with many different color options depending on the night. Plus you can't miss his signature Resistol or Stetson hat with sharp side curves literally topping off his look.

So tomorrow night, August 4th is your chance to catch Mr. Brown take the stage at Granada Theater with Michael Donner & the Southern Resistance + Ginny Mac supporting the same night. Doors are at 7pm, Junior Brown should take the stage around 10:20pm.
TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE!

Dunlop TV shot an interview/mini performance with Junior back earlier this year for your viewing pleasure...

ADMIRALS Reporting to Deep Ellum this Friday...

"Indie Rock's best kept secret is a close knit community of bands and artists in Oklahoma"... ADMIRALS

We will certainly have to investigate that claim, granted many great bands like The Flamming Lips have come from the OK state.
The guys that make up the ADMIRALS are off to a good start to catch up with a strong fan base out of Stillwater.
Colton Tucker [guitar - vox], Cory Brewer [drums - percussion], Andrew Bair [keys - piano] and Brett Murphy [bass] maintain the four group ranks.
Last Saturday the guys played a spot at Free Tulsa Music Festival which featured tons of Tulsa area and regional bands at multiple venues throughout the city.
This Friday, August the 3rd you can catch the ADMIRALS w/ Shapes and Faces, hormones and Zombie Western at Club Dada in Deep Ellum.  Things start kicking off around 8pm.

You can stream the six songs off the self titled ADMIRALS EP below and get a feel for their alt. rock sound. Our fav. track is number 6. Motorcycle Song!

RIGHT HERE: A Blog About A Band Named Colorfeels

Parker Cason and Justin Maurer started writing what would become SYZYGY, the debut album for Colorfeels, during winter of 2008.
The two teamed up after a few studio sessions and live shows with local blues rocker Jessica Breanne and setup shop at a Berry Hill studio.
Most of 2009 was spent writing and playing their new creations for friends. It was quickly decided soon after that the duo needed a third and that notion brought in Parker's old high school friend and bassist Taylor Zachry which the three became foundation for the group. The multi-instruments that Jared Ziemba brought into the group as a new member started taking the band into a brand new direction that seemed like more than just a style.
In the fall of 2010 Parker saw the opportunity to start recording some of SYZYGY inside his old family home "Forge Seat" just outside of Nashville.
Along with the new space and studio gear came new first drummer Matt Scibilia and two engineers, Ben Klise and Andrew Darby, to record the 11 song LP.
A second drummer, live dates and a tour all throughout 2011 lead the group to write and release the single "Shapes" in early 2012.
Still touring but also taking time to make it back to Nashville for a few shows, the guys that started Colorfeels are still writing and developing the sound that has been gaining a lot of attention and fan fare over the past few years.
Take the next 40 minutes or so and be sure to watch the short film on the band titled: BE THERE: A Film About A Band Named Colorfeels (explains our blog title rip off plus it is a great short in general). Shot and edited by Will Rucker also out of Nashville.
