Review by: Taylor Prater Photos by: Rhombi Survivor Photo Safaris & Taylor Prater Suburbia, day two - it was muy caliente, muy dusty, and muy musical, starting right off with our first set checking out The Unlikely Candidates. We'rewolves with the good ol' fashion rock
with a modern, soulful twist. Plus, I truly appreciate anyone who can run
energetically around stage in an all-black ensemble in Texas heat - these guys
definitely got the crowd going to start out the day.
Reviews + Photos by: Taylor Prater & Jaren Lorenz The weather in DFW is officially not crazy (knocks on wood) and you know what that means - arts festivals. Music, food, games, art, the works, and all in Deep Ellum, one of the best cultural gathering places in the Metroplex.
Review & Photos by: Taylor Prater Walking into American Airlines Center in Dallas before the Imagine Dragons show began was like entering the arena of the Hunger Games. The center is obviously a huge venue with plenty of room for national superstars like Imagine Dragons, but it's hard to really grasp the high volume of fans until you're on the floor in the middle of the crowd.

Review by: Taylor Prater and Jaren Lorenz Firstly, this album is called “Take Your Pants Off,” drawing me in with the carefree, goofy attitude while getting me excited about what I’m in store for.
Starting out the album with “When the Trail is Cold” and its bursting energy instrumentals and wide harmonies, hearing the shouts of “I came into a blueprint,” at the end of the track set the album up stylistically.
Review + Photos by: Taylor Prater You didn’t need to bring your boo with you to the Valentine’s Day Young the Giant show to feel the love. Openers Cayucas started out the feel-good, loving vibes with their upbeat, tribal, easy atmosphere, which was a nice compliment to Young the Giant’s sound.
Review & Photos by: Taylor Prater Following a whirlwind year of a new album and tour, CHVRCHES graced Southside Ballroom in Dallas with a mega-packed show definitely fitting of a band with indie album of the year potential.

Review + Photos by: Taylor Prater And we’re back! Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase 2013 returned this week and brought with it a ton of bands we all know and love from around the metroplex. I don’t know about you guys, but it seems like it was only yesterday DOMA 2012 was here. Picking out who to see was particularly tough with certain venues this go around, but I think we seemed to manage well enough. There’s just so much local music love to give.
Review & Amazing Photos by: Taylor Prater I’ve never really seen how big Atlas Genius’ following was until checking out their show at the House of Blues, and it’s safe to say their fans are beyond passionate about the group.
Review & Photos by: Taylor Prater OK music lovers, it’s time to get a little bit of Southern blues rock in our systems. Magnolia Motor Lounge played host to some of the area’s best in that genre, starting with duo Rise and Shine Saturday night.
Review & Photos by: Taylor Prater Top photo courtesy of Artist Fall is a great time for a little quirky, fun-loving folk pop, isn't it? So what better way was there to foster the warm, celebratory start to a new season than by jamming out with Wild Child and Prophets and Outlaws at The Prophet Bar.
Review + Photos by: Taylor Prater The folks over at Keep Texas Live got to see their musical child come to life last Saturday night when Clearfork Music Festival gathered some of the best in all styles of Fort Worth music. Since the festival’s announcement back in the beginning of August, it’s safe to say the city was in all kinds of excitement for a full day of jams.
Review/Photos by:Taylor Prater What’s a good summer without a little indie funk? The House of Blues seemed to ask that very question Friday night by welcoming Fitz and the Tantrums, a band that boasts an energetic audience of indie fans with a little bit of a funky twist.
Review/Photos by:Taylor Prater Additional Photos by:Neff Conner Rain and humidity wasn’t about to stop the 2nd annual KXT Summer Cut festival from powering on – the people of Texas know what they want, and what they want is to fest! And what better way to start off June than by filling up Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, with nine different bands serving up a well-rounded mix of the greatest in local acts and national favorites.
Review/Photos by:Taylor Prater Additional Photos by:Neff Conner Saturday It was time for a bit of a change in vibe in the lineup as we rounded out the second day of the festival. The 2 p.m. sun was blazing down and it was up to the bands to make up for any drained energy from the sun.
