GoodBAMMSho's Coming Out Party at the Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge

Black Pistol Fire
Friday night the Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge hosted the GoodBAMMSho launch party with 4 talented Texas bands, and a whole lotta rock and roll.

The good folks here at GoodBAMMSho have been kind enough to post my musical ramblings of some of the best shows coming through the DFW area. So, of course I wouldn't have missed out on the opportunity to check out some great live music at one of Ft. Worth's newest venues. First things first, the venue was a perfect choice for the festivities. Equipped with a rooftop patio and enough beers on tap to keep you occupied all night, some sleek decor and a spacious music hall, I might have to add this to my list of places to play soon!

You're Invited Tonight DFW + Denton + North Texas!

Tonight is the night!  GoodBAMMSho's Official DFW Launch featuring: Black Pistol Fire (Austin) | The Will Callers | The Roomsounds & The Red 100's and you are all invited!
Live Oak Music Hall in Fort Worth is the venue and doors open at 8pm.

Headlining tonight's show is the two man Canadian rock duo Black Pistol Fire that now calls Austin, TX home - when not in Ontario. Their full throttle high energy style of classic southern rock meets garage punk should keep our guests focused yet groovin' on the corner of Lipscomb and Magnolia this evening.      The two guys that make up BPF are Kevin McKeown - guitars/lead vocal & Eric Owen - drums. Friends since kindergarten they both developed a love for rock music in high school that eventually lead to them forming the three piece band The Shenanigans. One album later The Shenanigans were no more so Kevin and Eric decided to pack up and head south, way south! By 2009 the duo had landed in Austin and Black Pistol Fire was born.
Their music has been featured on TV shows like (new) 90210, apart of the 2011 Pepsi Refresh Project promotional campaign and most recently the O'Neill Girls 2012 Surf Team promotional video.
Get a preview of Black Pistol Fire from a 2011 performance at the Palm Door thanks to AustinMusicWeekly.com coverage.
Come out TONIGHT! 8pm and catch the guys live as they bring some Black Pistol Fire to GoodBAMMSho!

The Roomsounds Friday Night Ripper

The cool folks over at Central Track call The Roomsounds self title debut "a classic rock-influenced, high energy affair filled with big hooks and frenzied riffs."
We have personally had the chance to see and hear the guys live and came away with the kind of "damn! they were good" feeling that made us reach out to the band about being apart of our official launch.
Three of the four guys are originally from CT, Ryan Michael - vox & guitars, Sam Janik - guitars & BG's and Dan Malone - drums.
In 2009 the three decided to head toward Texas and along the way they picked up bassist Red Coker in Oklahoma which formed the starting line-up for these 70 esque rockers.

Check out a great video segment that Deep Dallas Music put together at Ferralog Studio in Deep Ellum last Thursday to promote their recent Club Dada show.
Come catch The Roomsounds live this Friday 7/27 at Live Oak in Fort Worth - 8pm!

OFFICIAL DFW LAUNCH WEEK!

The final week leading up to our Official DFW Launch party/show kicks off today. This Friday July, 27th is the date for our live show which will take place at Live Oak Music Hall in Fort Worth, TX - 8pm sharp!
People seem to be excited about the line-up and we couldn't be more stoked to have the bands be apart of our launch. Performing live will be The Red 100's out of Dallas, The Roomsounds also out of Big D, The Will Callers one of Fort Worth's favs. and two piece rock duo Black Pistol Fire out of Austin will be headlining the show Friday night.

Although we have been writing about live shows and bands in the DFW area for the last six months, this event will give us a chance to introduce ourselves to you, our readers, in person.
The blog itself started out as a fun side project to write about our live show experiences of the bands and artists that either live in or tour through DFW and Nashville.
In a very short time GoodBAMMSho has had the opportunity to cover some of the best live shows in DFW just this year - including EdgeFest22. The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, The Ting Tings and Artic Monkeys were just a few of the major acts that performed.
Then about a month later we got exclusive press access to KXT's first annual Summer Cut - Happy Funtime Fest. that featured The Flamming Lips, Fitz and the Tantrums, St. Vincent and a lot more!
Most recently, just last Tuesday to be exact, we posted a review for the Sofar Sounds - Songs from a Room event that took place in Denton just a few days before on July 14th.
Our awesome DFW writer/photographer, Sarah Sellers, myself and the rest of the GoodBAMMCrew were delighted to get the invite and enjoyed the very cool experience of a "pop up show" inside a Denton host living room.

We have a lot more planned and in development for our blog in 2012 including a new video series called "Check ONE Two" which will feature exclusive live performances by major acts that are touring through DFW.  Plus watch for local "community" flavored video segments that will focus on some of your favorite Dallas/Fort Worth & Denton bands in key performance locations around the metroplex. And a lot more that we can't talk about just yet...
All this week we will profile the bands performing live at our launch show and wrap things up at the end of the week with a full show preview post on Friday.

Hope to see you all at Live Oak on the 27th!

Nicos Gun, The Roomsounds, Morning Teleportation & a Whole Lotta Smoke [Review]

Nicos Gun

Wednesday night brought three very different yet seamlessly connected bands to the LaGrange in Deep Ellum. The last few times I've ventured down the tattooed streets of the once bustling local music scene, a little bit of hope is restored for music in Dallas. The LaGrange is a quaint and hip music spot perfect enough to fill a herd of music lovers into its sophisticated ambiance. It's been serving up local tunes and Tex-Mex for a few years now but to me, I've found a new spot to check out the hungry and talented (musically speaking of course).

Wednesday's event was sponsored by the fabulous peeps at Blackbox Presents and GoodBAMMSho. Opening the night was philly foursome Nicos Gun. Permeating the dark streets with their electro infused beats it made for a grand entrance into the club. The crowd was small but it didn't prevent them from putting on a hell of a good set.

Blackbox Presents: MORNING TELEPORTATION + more at LaGrange - Preview

Weds. May 16th | LaGrange
Blackbox Presents: MORNING TELEPORATION | THE ROOMSOUNDS | NICOS GUN
sponsored by: GoodBAMMSho
doors: 9pm | $7 advance - $10 @ the door

Bowling Green, KY people... who knows what I'm talking about?  Ok, forget I asked. Point being the guys from Morning Teleportation know a thing or seven about said Kentucky Home considering that's where it all began for Travis Goodwin, Tres Cocker (great name!) and Paul Wilkerson who ran into Tiger Merritt by way of Chicago who was attending college in BG.
This group of dudes have been around the country and back, lived in crazy places like Oregon (no idea?) and even played Letterman last year just to give you an idea of how they roll.
Cage the Elephant (another BG band) actually convinced/suggested the guys should take the next step into a pro career as musicians, according to past articles.
