The show hosted by Cause a Scene at the Basement had three extraordinarily, beautiful, talented bands perform. Keep in mind the word beautiful, when referring to music, is pretty rare. Each band gave this Monday night a special presence - and worth going to, too. For instance, it was the night sold out performances of Local Natives and Alt- J was in Nashville. So, it was to everyones surprise that the Basement was extremely close to being sold out as well. Each member of Casa Castile, Little Tybee and Colorfeels can play several different instruments to create a organic beautiful sound into one.

[REVEIW] Whitehorse at The Basement
Review/Photos by: Amber Davis
The tiny venue directly under Grimey’s New & Preloved Music lies The Basement. If you ever been to The Basement, you clearly know the venue does not have the greatest lighting or barely enough room to squeeze towards the bar. However, Ontario, Canada’s duo Whitehorse made us forget about the location. To the audiences view the band had set up a snare and bass drum, two telephone mics, a keyboard, several electric guitars, acoustic guitars and a bass. Whitehorse played like a six-man folk band with a few right turns and surprises.
Six Year Project for Son of Mumford - Communion Nashville Launch
Billed as the "UK's most credible source for breaking artists", Communion is launching their most recent U.S. expansion in Nashville tomorrow night (6/7) live at The Basement.
This will be the start of many first Thursdays of each month featuring "emerging, developing and established acts" each month. Communion developed as an artist forward and artist operated organization that deals in many facets of the music industry including live promotion, publishing, recording and production to offer artist and songwriters a full service approach to their business needs. Formed in 2006 by fellow musicians Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons) and Kevin Jones (Cherbourg) along with producer Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers, Travis, Beautiful South) at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London. Artists like Michael Kiwanuka, Anna Calvi, The Vaccines and Ben Howard performed during the early days of the artist coalition.

This should be a cool addition to some of the other regular shows around town and I look forward to seeing the type of acts they bring in each month and how many new favorites they can help launch for Nashville.
