Little Spark, Big Fire!

28 year old Jessie Baylin is an indie/folk/jazz kinda girl originally from Gillette, New Jersey who now calls Nashville home.
Jessie's debut album "You" was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Jessie Harris (Norah Jones, Melody Gardot) with much success. The follow up album, "Firesight", was her first major label release after signing with Verve Forcast in June of 2008.
Four years later Jessie has since cut ties with Verve and developed her own true independent space for her music in the form of Blonde Rat Records - affectionately borrowed from her grandmother's nickname.
Little Spark is the first release off Blonde Rat and most current for 2012.
Producer Kevin Augunas helped Jessie assemble a group of musicians that custom fit the throwback/mod. style for the record. Bringing in old-school style players like Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Jim Keltner on seasoned drums, Greg Leisz covering pedal steel and The Watson Twins on background vox.
Jimmie Haskell also handled string arrangements for the album which isn't a bad choice considering his past Emmy/Grammy awards working with acts like Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel and Bobby Gentry.
A couple weeks ago Jessie played Communion Nashville's August show at The Basement with Big Surr, Foreign Fields, Jill Andrews and Gold Motel.
Hope to get a chance to catch her in Nashville again soon, maybe at a "secret pop-up show" around town over the next couple of months? That would be cool and we'll share more about all that talk soon!
So far we like what we hear and look forward to more! On a personal life note, we have to mention that Jessie is married to KOL drummer Nathan Followill which I'm sure makes for a musical household.
Check out the trailer video we found hanging out on youtube for Jessie's album Little Spark for a great inside look at the making of...
